Response

For this photo shoot, I decided to do objects within landscapes. I took inspiration from Lina Jaros who put weird objects within different landscapes and took photos of them. I decided to use long exposure with sparklers. I used my location as a forest as it is a wide open space with random trees all over. I thought this would make for an interesting photo as the sparklers would be going in and out of the trees in different patterns.
I deliberately got two people to do specific things with the sparklers to make them slightly different. I really like the top photo as it is randomly done and I like the lighting. I like the fact you can see the trees behind the sparklers and that you can't see the people so it just looks like the sparklers have a mind of their own and they made these shapes themselves.

"Through environmental distortions of everyday surroundings I challenge the ordinary, natural or authentic. I take interest in the illusory and appearances of objects, and search for a condition when interiors gets separated from their traditional representations, and leave room for a new interpretation and evaluation of familiar space."
I particularly like Lina Jaros' work because I find it very interesting the way that she distorts reality and makes the scenery her own by laying down something that makes the photo look unique and unusual. I particularly like the bottom photo because of the reflections in the water and the fact that it is quite minimalist. I also like the trees and socks one because it looks like she has taken the time and effort to do it and it has turned out really well.

Response

This photo shoot is in response to Amy Harrity's photos where she uses people in her photos to create a meaning to the picture. I tried to make this photo look as if there was something going on in the distance that they were all looking at. I think the two photos at the bottom show power because they are taken from a low angle which makes the people look superior. I particularly like the top photo because I think it is mysterious and interesting. The way the clouds come round in the sky, separates the dark and gloomy left hand side and the brighter right hand side with the people in it. This, and the fact that they are higher up than everything else, also shows their superiority to the ground below and ahead of them.
