These photos round up my whole topic of landscapes, continuing on from the objects within landscapes subject. I wanted to do something similar to Riita Päiväläinen's photos where she gets clothes and places them within trees and different landscapes to create a strange and mysterious photo. I used pieces of cloth and hung them up on different trees to create this mysterious effect. I also used a dress and hung it up on a tree. This makes the photo look sincere and scary.
I think these three photos look good together because they all look similar and share a kind of story between each other. This brings out the mystery even more. I edited the photos so that they were darker and so that the whiteness of the sheets and the dress stood out even more against the dark and dull background of the woods. I think this shoot was very successful.

Riitta Päiväläinen

Riitta Päiväläinen takes photos of old clothing in trees and in the wilderness. She goes to second hand shops and buys this old clothing which "carry silent, unknown stories and histories." The way she places the clothes makes them look like they are coming alive and that they have some sort of hidden identity still left in them which gives a creepy feel to the photos.
I really like her photos because they are so different and unusual. I particularly like the ones with the cloths wrapped around the trees because it makes the picture flow into one. I do also like the fact that she uses all old clothing and makes the tainted history behind the clothes come out in her photographs.

These photos are in response to Charlie Waites' photos where he takes pictures of the vast landscapes around him. I took these photos while I was at my grandparents house and it was in the morning of a very misty day. You could just about see the sun which looked like the moon as it was hidden behind clouds and mist.
Out of these photos I particularly like the last one as the mist is in a good position and i like the fact that the land is very dark. I like the fact that you can clearly see the sun but that you don't quite know what time of day it actually is. These photos give off a sense of mysteriousness and give you a bit of a chill as well.

His photos have inspired me to look at the beautiful surroundings and the weird weather we get with our landscapes. The lighting you get in your photos to take pictures of landscapes have to be correct to capture a good photograph.

For this photo shoot, I decided to do objects within landscapes. I took inspiration from Lina Jaros who put weird objects within different landscapes and took photos of them. I decided to use long exposure with sparklers. I used my location as a forest as it is a wide open space with random trees all over. I thought this would make for an interesting photo as the sparklers would be going in and out of the trees in different patterns.
I deliberately got two people to do specific things with the sparklers to make them slightly different. I really like the top photo as it is randomly done and I like the lighting. I like the fact you can see the trees behind the sparklers and that you can't see the people so it just looks like the sparklers have a mind of their own and they made these shapes themselves.
